As I read this story on David’s Tent Facebook page, I felt as if there were those in retirement whom the Lord would single out to be a part of this select few to keep the fire burning on the altar in Washington, DC with David’s Tent.
Many in retirement have felt as if they’ve set aside in terms of God’s purposes. But in reality the Lord has set you apart for this very moment: He’s singled you out to be sent out. This is your moment to seize.
Yet, some have pursued a different path in retirement. Don’t be the couple whom John Piper writes about in his book, Don’t Waste Your Life. Their sole objective was simply to retire early, move to Florida to live a life of comfort and ease—traveling, playing golf and collecting shells. Don’t waste your life in the pursuit of ease.
Are there not fifty retirees across this nation who could respond to the call of God to keep the fire burning in Washington, DC? Or twenty-two? Twelve?
Will it require a sacrifice? Absolutely. Will it be full of ease and comfort? Absolutely not. But will it be worth it? Oh yes! All sacrifices for the perfect Lamb of God is worth the cost!
Is not the Lamb of God worthy of such a sacrifice from your very own life?
________
It might all come down to six people.
We’ve begun sounding the trumpet for The Day Beyond The Dawn: a year of worship in Washington DC where each state brings their offering and “owns” a week at David’s Tent. 50 weeks for 50 states!
Already, America is answering in an overwhelming way! Dozens of states have responded, saying “we’re in!” We are beyond excited for how God is raising up a movement of worship and prayer across America at the grassroots level, and gathering that together in the Capital City, state by state.
This is good news! But it’s also a challenge. Until the Delaware team kicks off on January 1, our long-term staff team is actually quite small. Honestly, we are feeling a really tight squeeze to both keep the tent running 24/7 until January, and also administrate well to prepare for these 50 state teams arriving in 2018. And we want to do both in utmost excellence!
Our staff team is only about six people short to both cover the gaps for these next two months and also free up our senior leadership to focus on administration for The Day Beyond The Dawn.
We are asking a handful of radical, fiery, lovers of Jesus to consider making a quick decision to join us here in DC, staffing at David’s Tent these next two months as we prepare for what God is bringing in 2018. Worship leaders or those willing to do night watch are especially helpful.
The time you sow in staffing will reap a mighty harvest in 2018, paving the way for every single state to bring a whole team of worshippers and intercessors to Washington DC.
Will you be one? Will you be a forerunner, a pioneer, one who prepares the way?
Please email staff@davidstentdc.org to apply!
The song goes on, simply because Jesus is worthy!
