Recently a treasure arrived in our mailbox. It was the newest book penned by our dear friend, Mary Jo Pierce—Let it Rise: Sacred Ingredients for a Life of Prayer. I encouraged my daughter to open the package, which revealed a beautifully wrapped book. Of course, she was thrilled to unwrap the gift. That’s precisely what this book is to the body of Christ—a gift to unwrap, page by page, chapter by chapter.
The stunning cover by Gateway Publishing drew a chorus of oohing and aahing as the book was held up for everyone to see.
Mary Jo holds a special place in our family. Five years ago she stayed in our home. During that time she baked bread with Aneta and the girls. These are memories that we hold dear to our hearts. Of course, the bread she baked that weekend was scrumptious. The aroma filled the house, forever engraining this memory deep into the vault of our most valuable memories.
Now she has prepared yet another amazing creation for us to devour. Let It Rise is certainly a book that is worth your consumption.
Recently while elaborating on why I bought a book on prayer due to Mary Jo’s recommendation, I wrote:
“I’ve known Mary Jo for years. When she prays, I listen with a reverent hush. When she talks about prayer, I attentively take notes. When she writes about prayer, I consume every word. When she recommends a book on prayer, I buy it.”
Well, she’s pulled this book fresh out of the oven for your enjoyment. This book will lay out the necessary ingredients for you to apply for a lifestyle of prayer. Trust me, the aroma of your prayer life after consuming this book, bite by bite, will be a pleasing aroma to the very heart of the Father.
You will feast on every word of Let It Rise. Mary Jo is certainly a woman who has lived out a life of prayer; one who prays with authority. Her writings come from a deep place that has oven baked decades before the Lord in secret.
Without reservation I highly recommend this book.
