THIRTEEN BOOKS

The following is a message I sent on July 22, 2015 to a select few after extended prayer. The message highlights a prophetic assignment I carried before the Lord for several years. This message to these thirteen aspiring authors has been left mostly intact. My hope is that it gives you greater understanding of the Lord’s purposes for THIRTEEN BOOKS.

ASSIGNMENT: THIRTEEN BOOKS

Have you ever wondered if there’s a book inside of you?

There is.

Literally. There’s a book inside of you waiting to be birthed. This is what the Lord has shown me. There’s a significant book inside of you for this coming hour. In fact this book in you will be a reference point for a flashpoint.

Let me explain.

Today I’ve carried an assignment from the Lord for exactly a year. On 7/22 of last year, the Lord instructed me to purchase an antique drawer that originated from a Singer sewing machine from 1914. Though I didn’t grasp the full implication of this, I knew it was the Lord. It felt weighty.

Immediately I delved into the storylines of 1914.

One week later, the Lord confirmed this assignment. I held the August issue of Charisma magazine in my hands. My eyes were glued to the cover. Emblazoned on the front—A Centennial Move of the Spirit: 100 Years of the Assemblies of God.

It was the prodding of the Lord whispering, Keep pursuing this thread.

These antique drawers held items useful to the sewer. Likewise, this journey of discovery would tap into the drawers of Heaven for revelatory tools useful in this hour. Our Father is the Master Sewer. He knows how to sew “all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). I searched for threads of His prophetic narrative woven into the storyline of 1914.

THE GUNS OF AUGUST

A classic penned by Barbara Tuchman in ’62 called The Guns of August intrigued me.  Tuchman detailed the events that galvanized during August of 1914 that cemented the outbreak of WW1. Essentially it highlighted how a small regional conflict escalated to a worldwide conflict involving nations steeped in the tactics and policies of time’s past.

Even the title of that book felt eerily prophetic during August of 2014.

ISIS was advancing with guns blazing across the Mideast, striking terror into the hearts of all. Their ruthlessness made them a formidable force within that region. Their tactics of violence certainly traveled wide and far through social media platforms and news media outlets.

And there was a gun in Ferguson that changed everything. It was a flashpoint. A gun in the hands of a police officer ended a black life prematurely. A black teen was on the wrong end of the gun. This too transpired in August—on the 9^th to be exact. A flashpoint ensued. A nation became uncomfortably conscious of an aged old thorn that continues to afflict an old wound.

I sought the Lord on these matters. As the thoughts of the guns of August churned within, a prophetic burden began to emerge.

An offshoot sprung forth in this prophetic narrative.

As I studied, I learned that President Kennedy read this defining book prior to the Cuban Missiles Crisis in 1962. That fascinated me. I was transfixed by the idea that a book directly influenced the outcome of an unexpected international crisis.

Let me set the stage. It was the Cold War. The U.S. versus the Soviet Union. Americans versus Russians. Democracy versus Communism. Good versus evil—so it was believed by both sides. Kennedy found himself in a stare down with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev.

The two superpowers were on the brink of a nuclear exchange. The Russians were secretly deploying ballistic missiles to Cuba in retaliation to the U.S. missiles in Turkey and Italy. Keep in mind that Cuba is only 90 miles from the southernmost tip of Florida. U.S. intelligence detected facilities that were being built with a few missiles stockpiled. President Kennedy authorized for an immediate military blockade to intercept vessels that were stocked with additional Soviet offensive weapons.

The whole world teetered on high alert. Tension was anything but palatable; like the taste of one’s own blood in the mouth.

As the superpowers stood eyeball to eyeball, without flinching—Kennedy kept his eyes on the pages turned previously in The Guns of August. He mentally rehashed what he gleaned from the book.

It intrigued me deeply that The Guns of August equipped JFK with a mental framework to navigate the uncharted waters of this international crisis. He had a reference point. The President was intentionally cautious due to the presuppositions he formed while reading Tuchman’s classic. The author delineated how the war spiraled carelessly out of control due to archaic means to addressing international conflict—in contrast, Kennedy sought sound judgement in the face of a volatile situation (and potentially catastrophic). He kept his eyes on the reference point to avoid previous pitfalls of a bygone era.

Kennedy feared becoming an equivalent to the raging infernos depicted in The Guns of August. He knew the stakes were higher. He tread cautiously—and successfully, I might add. Thanks to a book. And an author who arduously toiled to write a book that changed the world (or more aptly stated, saved the world).

During this time a lingering thought began to emerge that I set before the Lord:  Where are the Christian books that will equip believers for their defining moments?

THIRTEEN DAYS FOR THIRTEEN BOOKS

At the beginning of 2015, the Lord instructed me to set aside thirteen days to fast. The thirteen days paralleled the thirteen days of the Cuban Missiles Crisis (perhaps you may recall Thirteen Days with Kevin Costner from the 90’s). During the fast, the Lord confirmed what had been percolating in my heart for a few months:  He was going to highlight thirteen first-time authors who have a significant book inside of them.

These weren’t just ordinary books. He spoke that these books would provide a reference point for a flashpoint. These were books saturated with revelatory depth. Books written with pens filled with ink from heaven. Books birthed within the crucible of God’s fire. Books that carry the indelible mark of God’s stamp. Books to equip believers to navigate uncharted territories of future crisis.

Essentially these thirteen books would provide the reader with the necessary tools to seize God’s opportunities when a flashpoint arose.

The Lord identified many of these authors to me. Some of them are nationally known. Others are significant emerging voices. Yet a few are unknowns—hidden by the Lord for such a time as this. Yet, I know what binds each together:  There’s a book inside of you that will deeply impact many lives for the sake of His kingdom.

 

I’ve explored to see if there are potential publishing houses to publish these thirteen books. There’s still a lot of unknowns moving forward. But I’ve spoken with three major charismatic publishing houses about these THIRTEEN BOOKS. Each have expressed interest. Chosen Books—one of my favorite publishing houses in the charismatic stream—especially showed interest in working together. Again, there are no guarantees—but there’s a potential opportunity to explore when the time is right for each author.

I know in my heart this is the Lord’s orchestration. I’m not trying to do this to somehow make money. I have already communicated upfront with the publishers that I will not receive financial compensation for any authors I bring to them.

This is a burden in my heart from the Lord—a calling. As a prophetic vessel, I’m simply motivated to hold in my hands what I see in the spirit—your book! And I will continue to stand in faith until all thirteen books have been birthed. I’m here to serve.

So, in closing, I say to you prophetically this day, July 22, 2015:  You are pregnant with a book inside of you to birth!
